University of the Aegean / Information Systems Laboratory

The University of the Aegean was established in 1984 and constitutes the realisation of a dream initially expressed by the famous Greek mathematician Constantine Caratheodory and later adopted by several Greek intellectuals.

The University of the Aegean, being distributed over several islands in the Aegean archipelago, aims at providing modern scientific education and at fostering basic and applied research. With its flexible, non-bureaucratic, organizational structure, it applies high standards with regards to the scientific knowledge of its graduates, as well as with regards to the research and teaching staff that it employs. The University of the Aegean, already nearing fifteen years of existence, is actively engaged in its effort to establish itself as the primary scientific and cultural focus within the sensitive area of the Aegean archipelago.
