The organisation Almere Kennisstad
(Almere Knowledge City) is founded and financed by the local
government of the city of Almere in 2001.
Almere Kennisstad is a foundation
that initiates and stimulates innovations with ICT in economy and
society (health care, education, public services, etc.). In this
way thee organization contributes to local objectives like economic
growth and employability, high level (public) services and an
outstanding reputation and attractiveness for citizens and
Almere Kennisstad helps developing
and implementing projects in the fields mentioned by offering
knowledge, expertise and networks and in many cases co-funding.
Thanks to the innovating force of the foundation the new town
Almere has become one of the frontrunners in ICT developments in
the Netherlands and Europe. By 2010 every citizen and every company
is connected on the basis of a hypermodern optical fiber
infrastructure. Broadband is no longer an issue in Almere. It's all
about services now.
